A further two wins for Carol
with Tony Caig taking the other win
A change of driver for some of the Team cars for this round saw Mark Spiers having his first outing in Car 44, Alistair Dow out again in Car 37 and Michael Hogg behind the wheel of Car 07.
Sadly Oly Mortimer felt that he could not afford to continue to participate and Colin, even if he had been able to repair his car, was not in any state to race it so we were down to 23 cars on the grid.

Mark Spiers was a few seconds back with Jason adrift of him but with Stewart close by.
Non finishers included David & John, who had a coming together at Clarke’s, Scott, Michael (assisted into the gravel at Clarke’s) and Kenny (snapped propshaft flange).

Heat 2
|
Carol was tagged by Ross going down Duffus on the first lap sending her into the gravel and out of the race. Off near the front of the grid, Tony took a commanding lead and was never headed taking a comfortable win. David drove well for a solid if rather solitary 2nd place. Next up was Frank with Alex hot on his heels. Richard just bested Pat to the line followed by Gerard, delaying himself by clipping the tyre wall at the chicane, with Alistair Dow (in Car 37) pressing him hard after an "off" at the bottom of Duffus earlier in the race. Next up was Ali G holding a watching brief. And then came Scott with Mark L on his bumper.
There were a number of non-finishers being Stewart, John, Ross, Mark S, Carol, Jason and Chris.
Heat 2 - 8 laps
1st Tony Caig 8m 19.54 secs (73.79 mph), 2nd David Thorburn, 3rd Frank Hynds, 4th Alex Knight, 5th Richard Crozier, 6th Pat Hynds, 7th Gerard McCosh, 8th Alistair Dow, 9th Alasdair Gauld, 10th Scott Hynds, 11th Mark Lees, 12th Murray Ford, 13th Mervyn Wilson, 14th Mike Hogg, 15th Ericco Palazzo. Final

Jason’s car would not fire up in the assembly area and with Kenny’s car not repairable in time and Stewart’s camshaft having broken just 20 cars formed up. With their respective dnfs in the previous heat, Carol and Ross started further forward on the grid than usual. John took up the early front running but was overhauled on lap 3 by Carol. Next lap saw Ross in the lead but the following lap had Carol back in front and she went on to take victory by a couple of seconds from Ross. From the back of the grid Tony worked his way through to take the next slot. Scott kept David honest for the next two places. John had drifted back to finish in 6th, very comfortably ahead of Frank, also from the back of the grid, who just bested Ali G by 1/10th of a second. Chris led home a train of 5 cars, all under a second apart, with Ali D directly behind him.
Final - 10 laps
1st Carol Brown 10m 26.50 secs (73.55 mph), 2nd Ross Marshall, 3rd Tony Caig, 4th David Thorburn, 5th Scott Hynds, 6th John Marshall, 7th Frank Hynds, 8th Alasdair Gauld, 9th Chris Hynds, 10th Alistair Dow, 11th Alex Knight, 12th Gerard McCosh, 13th Richard Crozier, 14th Mark Spiers, 15th Pat Hynds, 16th Mark Lees, 17th Mervyn Wilson, 18th Murray Ford, 19th Ericco Palazzo, 20th Mike Hogg.
Fastest lap: Tony Caig 60.94 secs (75.60 mph)

So for a change it was not Carol taking the laurels this time. Honours for Round 4 went to Tony Caig (500 points), from Frank Hynds in 2nd place (470 points) and Carol Brown in 3rd place (405 points).
The Driver of the Day Award went to Mark Lees.
In the Individual Championship, Carol has a 300+ point lead now from Tony with Frank just under 300 points behind him.
In the Team Championship, Car 31 (Alex/Aly) still leads Car 44 (Andrew/Ben/Mark) with Car 37 (Stevie/Alistair) in 3rd place.
And in the Rookies with Oly dropping out Ross has taken the lead from Oly with Richard still in 3rd.
And so a break of nearly 6 weeks until the next outing. This one, a single round, will be at the Scottish Speedfair Weekend run at Knockhill on Saturday, 7th & Sunday, 8th June. Let us hope the weather is kind to us again.
